Colorado Congressman Evan Kendrick is trying to live out his term quietly when a political mole reveals his deepest secret: Kendrick was the anonymous hero who freed the hostages held by Arab terrorists in the American embassy in Masqat, and then silently disappeared. More About The Icarus Agenda
I am reviewing the novel The Icarus Agenda by Robert Ludlum which is a very good book which I bought from a car boot sale. This book was published in 1988 not that long after the U S embassy hijack in Tehran and this book is obviously partly inspired by that because it starts with something similiar in Oman. In the case of the latter... I like Robert Ludlum but I did not enjoy this book or at least the first third. The idea of a Colorado Congressmen with a background as a American business man who had worked in the Middle East but had no other training would be sent back to the Middle East covertly with a tube of skin die to disrupt a terrorist group was beyond plausible.... Robert Ludlum's books are terrific. He's a master writer plain and simple. I've read a ton of his books, and they are all great thrillers.
